Privacy Policy

CookFinder ("we", "our", "the app") helps you save cooking videos from TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube and turns them into structured recipes you can search and keep offline. This page explains what data we collect, why, and how you can control it. CookFinder is currently in development and not yet publicly available.

What we collect

• Video links you share into the app — the URL of the video you want turned into a recipe.
• The recipe we generate — title, ingredients, steps, category, and an estimated nutrition breakdown, derived from the video's public metadata.
• An anonymous device identifier — created on first launch so you can use the app without creating an account. No personal information is required to use CookFinder.
• Account details, if you choose to register — an email address and a securely hashed password. We never store your password in plain text.
• Basic usage and crash data — to help us fix bugs and understand which features are useful. This does not include the content of your recipes.

What we don't do

• We do not sell your data to anyone.
• We do not show third-party ads or ad-tracking in the app.
• We do not access your TikTok, Instagram, or YouTube account — we only read the public metadata of videos you explicitly share into the app.

Third-party services we use

To turn a video link into a recipe, CookFinder sends the video's public URL and metadata to:

• OpenAI — to draft the recipe text from the video's title and description.
• YouTube Data API, and public embed APIs for TikTok/Instagram — to read a video's public title, author, and thumbnail.

These providers process only what's needed to generate your recipe and are bound by their own privacy policies and data-handling terms.

Your recipes, your control

Recipes you save belong to you. You can edit or delete any recipe in the app at any time. Deleting your account removes your saved recipes and personal data from our systems.

Children's privacy

CookFinder is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, we'll update the date above and, once the app is public, notify users in-app.
